Warhammer 40K Cadian Guardsman by ShadowGyrlBrice Warhammer 40K Cadian Guardsman by ShadowGyrlBrice
The first cosplay I've put together. It is the uniform and weapon of a lowly Imperial Guardsman from Cadia in the Warhammer 40K universe. This cosplay combined the work of a few people into a very successful costume.

Now if only about a thousand more troops would put together the same uniform the Cadia 8th Regiment could take on the 501st Legion.

I contacted Spat from spatcave.com about the armor. The fatigues are from chefwear.com though I forget the exact numbers of the pieces. The boots are just regular Army jungle boots, and I have a couple of belts for this. The lasgun was made from cardboard, mostly, made from measurements of the mini 32x larger.

I really wish I could get together enough folks with this to have a full IG Company. When I was young I recall a New Years day parade in which about a thousand members of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion marched together. It would be so cool to do something like that for 40K.

Pretty nicely done, although it was a cadian we would see visual swearing, while firing the lasgun from one hand.
However it is as close a gurdsman as I think most can get.

Awesome been trying to make my own using some lacrosse pads for flak armor. what did you use for the helmet I have yet to find a bike helmet with the proper ear guards?

The helmet is a modified baseball batter's helmet with a vacuum formed ABS plastic cover and resin cast crest. It was made by the same guy that vacuum formed the body armor.

If I had an extra set, I'd be willing to do so. But as that is my primary 501st costume, I can't very well do that.

This is several levels of awesome. And, from reading the materials listed in the comments, sounds like it offers about as much protection as flak armor as well! Nice Job.

It looks perfect! I think all it needs is a digital camo... I've had a mod put on my Dawn of War game that gives the Guard the digital camo pants and it looked great! If I were to ever get guard for the table top I think I'd give them a ACU color... Just because. A more dedication to the troops I guess...

Eh, not so much as you would think. As I recall I only put about $500 into it all together, and that can be on the low end as cosplays go.

Dude.

That is freaking awesome and you are now amazing in every conceivalbe way.

May I ask what you made the Uniform out of?

The Pants and top look similiar to the Olive Drab uniform worn by... I forget who actually but it does look familiar.

The pants and top are a chef uniform from ChefWear.com. I forget the model numbers, but a little searching will find it fairly quickly. I still plan to get an aquilla embroidered on the left breast, and maybe make some Cadian buttons, but that's all after a new weapon, perhaps a grenade launcher.

Nice one... How did you do the armour plating?
Reply
:iconshadowgyrlbrice:

I actually got someone to vacuform it for me. It's done in .090 ABS plastic and then strapped together with nylon straps and quick release clips. The helmet shell was put on over a modified baseball batter's hat and the eagles were resin. The fatigues are actually a chef uniform that just happened to have exactly the right cut.

Wow, so the plating is real quality stuff. :)

With the helmet, there might have been a chance to obtain a used military helmet from somewhere around the world. Don't get me wrong, your helmet looks perfect. It's just what I would've done... :)

As for the uniform... There's no costume than the one made from everyday-stuff! :D

Great work!
